Amber Alert issued for missing 3-year-old girl in N. Texas

An Amber Alert continues for a missing 3-year-old girl from Richardson, Texas.

NBC 11Alive reports that Wesley Mathews reportedly put his daughter, Sherin Mathews, in the family home's backyard as a form of punishment when she refused to drink her milk earlier that evening. The tree was at least 33 yards away and across an alley.

Mathews, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Dallas Morning News, sent his daughter to stand near the large tree across an alley where he had previously seen coyotes, he admitted to investigators. When he returned 15 minutes later, Sherin was gone. She was last seen wearing pink flip-flops and a pink top, as well as black pajama bottoms.

An Amber Alert was issued in San Francisco for a 2-year-old girl, the California Highway Patrol said.

He was charged with abandoning or endangering a child. He said the police are trying to "pick up any type of scent" or clothing items that might give law enforcement a lead to help find the toddler.


We are now looking for a 3-year-old child. They said she experiences formative issues and has restricted verbal relational abilities. Matthews' bond is set at $250,000.

Sherin Mathews has been missing since Saturday. The family vehicles also have been seized, and are being searched for evidence.

Members of the family's church gathered outside of the home Saturday afternoon and said the girl's parents were being interviewed at police headquarters.
