Sturridge not the same since Suarez left Liverpool, claims Carragher

Roberto Firmino has struggled in front of goal in recent weeks

That's according to Sky Sports pundit Stuart Pearce.

Against Newcastle, Carragher thought Liverpool were in total control when going ahead through Coutinho after 29 minutes, only for Shelvey to unpick the visiting defence seven minutes later and Joselu apply the final touch.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes Daniel Sturridge has not been the same player for Liverpool since Luis Suarez left the club in 2014. He was by some distance Klopp's most risky player and produced his goal from a nothing situation.

With finding it hard in recent years, Pearce thinks Sturridge will head for the exit: "I think at some stage he'll leave Liverpool to go onto different pastures".

"I think Newcastle would be the ideal club for Daniel Sturridge".

Hit play on the video above to see the goal, plus analysis from Carragher and Souness. The summer transfer window did not go well for them.

"There was no cuteness in his game that you normally associate with him".

"They didn't fix the problems they needed to in the summer".

Yesterday's game was a flawless example of their nearly inevitable play. You do think, 'Where would Liverpool be without Philippe Coutinho right now?'

"The reason he played [against Newcastle] is because Roberto Firmino is not playing well".

"It just sums Liverpool up defensively".

Wins over Palace and Leicester City were narrow, while they have also drawn at home to Burnley and away to Watford after conceding sloppy goals. "How many times have we got to say it?" "A lack of concentration has cost Liverpool and I'll say it again, whenever Liverpool conceded chances, they are always "big chances", and this is exactly the same, a man running through on your goal".

"When you are defending you have to be really aggressive but when you are on the ball you have to be composed".

Liverpool were wasteful in front of goal against Newcastle having 17 shots but only two of them found the target.
