Trump calls his Puerto Rico critics 'politically motivated ingrates'

On Friday, San Juan's mayor pleaded for more help; "If anybody out there is listening, we are dying".

The tweets amounted to a biting response to Ms Cruz, who had accused the Trump administration of "killing us with the inefficiency" after Hurricane Maria.

President Trump's response to the unfolding humanitarian disaster in Puerto Rico was desperately inadequate (and that's putting it generously) until Saturday, when it became downright shameful.

"After President Trump was criticized for a bad response to Hurricane Maria", said Colin Jost, "this morning he finally gave the people of Puerto Rico what they needed most: a bunch of tweets straight-up calling them lazy".

During the "Weekend Update", hosts Michael Che and Colin Jost opened the segment on the subject of Puerto Rico.

"In response to Trump's tweets branding criticism of the federal government's Puerto Rico relief efforts "#fakenews", the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star offered up a dose of reality.

Asked about Trump's suggestion Saturday that Puerto Ricans wanted "everything to be done for them", Long said, "I believe the Puerto Ricans are pulling their weight".

A tropical wave formed near the Lesser Antilles, and is expected to drift west over the next few days.

She explains to him that Puerto Rico is, in fact, part of the United States.

Mayor Cruz hasn't even been to the recovery effort field office and the anti-Trump media flocks to her like moths to a flame? "Oh really, Donald? You bitch". How nasty? Are you shaking?

The mayor said the problem in the relief effort to Puerto Rico is not with the staff of the Federal Emergency Management Agency or other federal agencies working to help the island, but with a lack of sufficient resources. "Do you want to go smoke a Virginia Slim until your hand stops moving?"

"This isn't that complicated, man", he continued. You did the same thing for white people-twice.

Away from Puerto Rico, the opening sketch also brought on Kate McKinnon as Attorney General Jeff Sessions and commented on Trump's attacks on NFL players who kneel during the National Anthem in protest of social and racial injustice.
