Best Buy Releases Nintendo Super NES Classic

The SNES Classic Releases Tomorrow and How Can You Get One

Last year, Nintendo released the NES Classic Edition, a revamped version of their introductory gaming console. On the right side of the law, Nintendo has already started releasing some classic games as downloads for its more modern hardware, with more expected to come for the Switch console. Several months ago, it had revealed that a follow-up, the SNES Classic Edition, would arrive, and it will have 21 games and two controllers to boot.

But in July and August, a string of pre-order debacles got retro video game fans worrying that Nintendo's promises meant nothing.

SNES Classic owners will be happy to know that Hakchi2, the software used hack into Nintendo's NES Classic system and expand the library works with the new console without any special prerequisites. Each store did, however, pass out tickets at open, so if you weren't there at 8am it's pretty much up in the air if you can walk in and find one.

The SNES Classic Edition is sure to be a massive hit throughout the fall and into the holiday season, assuming Nintendo can get them to retailers fast enough.

First off, Star Fox 2 has a website with a few pages instead, but all other manuals are reproduced nicely as digital PDFs.

So even if you end up getting the SNES Classic from a scalper on eBay for $250, it's still a bargain compared with what you'd pay if you tracked down the original console and all these games individually.

"I couldn't see what I was doing", she said of the fast and furious racing game.

The controller cables on the SNES are substantially longer than on Nintendo's last nostalgia console, the NES Classic, which suffered greatly from too-short cables. You get a bunch of built-in games including Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart and more!

Bob Puzon, GameStop's VP of Merchandising, has already released a statement about the success of the SNES Classic launch and the possibility of finding one on shelves in the near future...
