Everything That Went Wrong on Megyn Kelly's First Week on Today

Kelly began by talking to Redford about his Hollywood career highlights and his iconic role as Hubble in The Way We Were.

When Robert was asked about her comments in an interview with Daily Telegraph, he coyly replied, "I didn't know she was (in love) with me". Fonda said, looking annoyed. Megyn Kelly then asked Jane Fonda about her secret in maintaining a youthful look followed by questions regarding the work she had done to stay lovely.

"You admit you've had work done, which I think is to your credit, but I think you look wonderful", Kelly continued.

However, what she wasn't expecting was that she'd have to give presenter Megyn Kelly a reminder of her manners, when she found herself being quizzed about her past brushes with cosmetic procedures. "I have and I've talked about it", Fonda said. But the early reviews have been poor, the audience is already dwindling, and Kelly has suffered a wave of bad press thanks to a series of inappropriate on-air remarks.

"I find it very tender and hopeful that it's never too late to explore the possibilities of intimacy", Fonda said. Redford tells TODAY's Matt Lauer that working with Fonda was "easy" because they've made so many films together, such as "Barefoot in the Park", which he says was made in a more innocent time.

On top of drawing criticism, the question prompted backlash from "Will & Grace" star Debra Messing.

Having the cast of Will & Grace seems like a morning TV layup, but Kelly managed to make things weird when she flippantly referred to homosexuality as "the gay thing" while sharing a stage with a group of queer people and their allies.

On Thursday, Kelly's interview with U.S. Olympic soccer star Carli Lloyd appeared to be going well when an unidentified cameraman stepped into the video frame and blocked the view of Lloyd, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Later that day, Messing responded to a fan on Instagram who asked "But why did you guys do the Megyn Kelly show?". I think she's got the eyes of the world upon her, and I think everybody can relate to how nerve-wracking that is.

"This time - and this is what's fun about it, that you can compare your experience now with back then - it was like, 'Come on, Bob, lighten up!' Yeah, I could tease him".
