Representational pic- Army foils infiltration bid

The defence sources said that the attackers could be from Pakistan's BAT which comprises of soldiers as well as militants.

Singh's comments come after the Jammu and Kashmir Police said in a report that Dar had gone to cast his vote in the parliamentary by-poll on April 9 and he was a victim of "wrongful confinement".

Pakistan on Thursday condemned the statement of Indian Army chief in which he warned that India could carry out another surgical strike into Pakistan-administered Kashmir if it is required.

The BSF guards the worldwide border with Pakistan south of the Chenab while on the north, along the LoC, it works under the operational control of the Indian Army.

He asked them to investigate this and other reported violations, and urged the Indian side to permit the United Nations Military Observers group in India and Pakistan to play the role mandated under the UN Security Council resolutions.

Sources said that off-late several infiltration attempts by the Pakistan Army to push in terrorists from across the worldwide border and the LoC have been successfully foiled by the Army and the BSF.

Around eight armed intruders were trying to infiltrate inside Indian boundaries. One of the intruders was killed in the swift Indian action but a second intruder had managed to escape and return to PoK under cover fire from Pakistani troops, the officials had said. Meanwhile, army has not officially released any statement over the incident yet. It was BAT men who had killed and decapitated two Indian jawans in May in a barbaric action. The shelling left a 50-year-old woman injured.

The reports said that some villagers of the area had noticed the presence of four suspects when they were working in the fields.
