Jennifer Lawrence doesn't want kids

Jennifer Lawrence

"I just think he's so bold and unafraid and that's exactly what I saw", she explained.

When asked what she'd do during the hiatus, the actress answered, "I don't know" with a laugh.

But surely no-one wants to see a mother being beaten to a pulp for no good reason or her newborn baby being killed and eaten by a mob.

The American star, who was the highest-paid actress in the world in 2015 and 2016, announced her big screen hiatus on The Today Show while promoting new movie Mother! "And so, in between action and cut, she's the character, and then when you call cut, she's Jennifer Lawrence again".

When pressed by Today co-host Savannah Guthrie about her plans in the future, Lawrence was her usually candid, amusing self at explaining her next steps.

Though she may not be ready for kids just yet, she's not pumping the brakes on her romance with mother! director Darren Aronofsky, whom she's been dating for a year. Aronofsky may not seem like a familiar face, but you have probably seen his movies including the 2010 hit "Black Swan", the chilling 2000 film "Requiem For a Dream", and the 2014 epic "Noah".

Both Lawrence and Bardem are fine in their roles, with the former ably handling the heavy emotional weight the role requires.

'You've done a movie, at least one movie, every year since 2010. I know there's some disaster looming ahead and I know it's coming and no one will listen to me.

"I was angry and resentful because I thought that I deserved the right to do what I love and to do my job, and then still have privacy", Lawrence continued. "And I'm never confused with him".

As for possible hobbies, Lawrence joked that maybe she would "start making pots". She spoke about that, too, and the double-edged sword that fame can be.

"I'm really excited to be back", Pfeiffer says.
