US Navy Seals Train SKorean Team to Kill Kim Jong Un

Mr Rodman has been to visit Mr Jong-un 'six of seven times and he hopes that their friendship can bring peace

But the five-time National Basketball Association champion, who is one of the only Americans to meet Kim, said he would like to "straighten things out" amid a nuclear standoff between the United States and North Korea.

Former basketball star Dennis Rodman of the USA shows pictures he took with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to the media, upon arrival at Beijing Capital International Airport, in this combination picture of frames shot September 7, 2013.

Rodman has apparently visited the Korean penninsula several times but that he and Kim rarely touch on politics.

Rodman also told "Good Morning Britain" he's extended an invitation to past world leaders to meet Kim. Speaking on United Kingdom television show "Good Morning Britain", he said: "Every time I see him he's always calm, he's always smiling, especially with his family. Not at all. I've always said that from day one", Rodman said.

That bromance flourishes against a backdrop of increasing worldwide stress.

House Foreign Affairs Committee Ranking Member Eliot Engel called on the president to tone down his fiery rhetoric on China, adding he thinks it's poor timing for the administration to pull out of the U.S.'s trade agreement with South Korea - noting they will need their support if they want to stop North Korea from growing its nuclear program.

Rodman is said to have given Kim a copy of President Donald Trump's book "The Art of the Deal" during his past visit, The New York Daily News noted. "We hardly ever talk politics".

"I'm concerned Kim Jong un wants to finish what his grandfather started", Thornberry told reporters.

North Korea claimed last weekend to have developed its most powerful nuclear weapon yet: A hydrogen bomb that could reach the US. As for the latter, Rodman considers him a "friend for life", with the former National Basketball Association athlete revealing that he and Jong-un sing karaoke, as well as ski and ride horses together.

Sure, Kim Jong Un and his nuclear arsenal seem pretty scary.

When Morgan brought up Kim's frequent threats of annihilating the USA with nuclear weapons and called him a repressive dictator, Rodman chuckled, which somewhat riled Morgan, who then questioned why Rodman may not see Kim as a threat.

"F$3 or some reason, we have a big issue with North Korea."

But, then again, Rodman is not a politician - and, thankfully, he is well aware of this fact.

"It's just fun that me saying something like that makes people say "oh my God i'm protecting North Korea".

Reminded of North Korea's appalling human rights record, Rodman distanced himself from the North Korean ruler, saying that all he wished to do was to create dialogue and bring peace as an "ambassador for sports".
