Russia, Japan 'decisively condemn' North Korea missile launch - Putin

Vladimir Putin

The "boorish" treatment Putin referred to was the USA officials' decision to vacate Russian diplomatic premises in several American cities.

The latest escalation of the crisis came on Sunday when Pyonyang announced it had conducted a sixth nuclear test, which it claimed was of a hydrogen bomb.

The announcement dramatically upped the stakes in its standoff with the global community over its banned weapons programmes, which have seen it subjected to seven sets of UN Security Council sanctions so far.

The U.N. Security Council is now debating imposing fresh sanctions on North Korea, with Japan and the United States pushing for an oil embargo on the reclusive state.

While it's not clear how - and if - the North Korea issue will be resolved, the United States has flatly rejected a Chinese proposal, backed by Russian Federation, for a suspension of hostilities on both sides.

Russia does not recognize the nuclear status of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), as its missile program threatens the security in Northeast Asia, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday.

Speaking after US officials ordered Russia to vacate diplomatic premises in several American cities, Putin said he would order the Russian foreign ministry to take legal action over alleged violations of Russia's property rights.

World powers are scrambling to react to the latest ominous advance in the North's rogue weapons programme, which has sent global tensions soaring.

In a response to question posed to him at the BRICS summit in Xiamen, China, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Donald Trump is 'not his bride.

"If the enemy launches a provocation above water or under water, we will immediately hit back to bury them at sea", Captain Choi Young-chan, commander of the 13th Maritime Battle Group, said in a statement.

"This will lead to no good", said Putin, according to NPR. However, around 90 percent of Pyongyang's trade is with Beijing and Trump has often said the Chinese should take more steps to rein in Kim's nuclear ambitions.

Mr Putin spoke after meeting South Korean President Moon Jae-in in Vladivostok, Russia, on the sidelines of a conference on economic development in Russia's Far East.

Analysts said the two are also concerned the system's advanced radar could be used to look inside their own countries or potentially even limit their deterrent capabilities.

Last week, Pyongyang fired a ballistic missile that flew over the Japanese island of Hokkaido.

They targeted key exports such as coal that are a source of foreign currency for the regime.

The nuclear test came only five days after the launch of a ballistic missile that flew over northern Japan on August 29. The proposal has been submitted to the other members of the UN Security Council.

"China will never allow chaos and war on the (Korean) peninsula", he asserted.

Western capitals have been paying closer attention to Russian economic ties with North Korea since a series of missile and nuclear tests carried out by Pyongyang prompted warnings that a military conflict could break out on the Korean peninsula.

Haley rejected the proposal as "insulting". She added: "We have kicked the can down the road long enough".
