No. 4 Penn State anxious about Panthers, not revenge

Penn State fans hold fall wedding the right way

Although Penn State coach James Franklin doesn't consider the Pitt game any more special than any other, Pitt players like it. "That's the game of football, and I was able to do that".

The Penn State Nittany Lions are red hot after they defeating Akron 52-0 in their opener. The Nittany Lions went 10-2 the rest of the way, capturing the Big Ten title and earning a trip to the Rose Bowl. "I was joking around with Grant saying that you got to find a way to get into the endzone and get your knees up, but I think the defense did a great job today", junior running back Saquon Barkley added. She said she wasn't quite sure how her family would react when she mentioned their reception idea, but they immediately loved it. Pittsburgh will likely remember them heading into next season's matchup.

Once gain, the Lions defense held up their end during a 33-14 pounding of Pitt, keeping the Panthers out of the end zone until it was way too late and limiting them to two measly field goals through the first three quarters.

"I don't see playing Pitt every year", Barbour said in May.

"We always want to pressure on the quarterback", Miller said. "Last year walking out of that stadium, the fans, all the type of stuff they said when we walked off".

Haley told Barkley during camp that, if he ever got the ball in his hands, he was going to score.

Wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton may have taken the most heat following the loss.

"I mean, you just try to focus on winning your one-on-ones and the opportunities, and that play was designed perfectly", Barkley said of the touchdown, which came with 10 minutes or so to play in the third quarter and grew PSU's lead to 21-3.

The place was sold out, and Penn State won the 98 meeting against the team it has played against the most, but this was Franklin's stance and he was sticking to it. "I guess what I do not know is, are we supposed to prepare harder this week than we did last week?" "We're a really firm believer that no one can stop us but us".

Much like it did last season, Pitt billed this game as its big rivalry heading into the weekend - with the team's coach Pat Narduzzi talking up the big-game nature, while also holding his players from the media and closing practice sessions. He played the entire game in place of graduate transfer Brandon Hodges, who briefly spelled Jaryd Jones-Smith at right tackle.

"I know previous year for their win [against us], it was like the Super Bowl", Franklin said.

"For their win a year ago it was like winning the Super Bowl", Franklin said.
