Mewtwo Is Coming To Pokemon Go Via Exclusive Raid Battles

Pokemon GO Mewtwo set to replace Zapdos Legendary following Yokohama Stadium Event

The creature has made its first appearance to "Pokémon GO" players in Japan during the Stadium event taking place amid the Pikachu Outbreak festivities in the country, Kotaku first reported.

Currently, Mewtwo in Pokemon Go is only available through a recent Japanese event, however, Niantic will be adding him to the game pretty soon for everyone. According to Gamespot, these four Legendaries are now available via Raid Battles [VIDEO] and will be available through August 31.

Pokemon Go is expanding its legendary raids with the introduction of Mewtwo. These exclusive raid battles work as follows. However, unlike standard raids, to compete, players will need invites.

Pokemon Go's version of Mewtwo.

Many players were expecting Ho-Oh to be the fifth Legendary Pokemon to appear, but players are probably more pleased now that the Legendary favorite from the original first generation can be found in the game. For now, players can get their hands on Mewtwo through such events.

Legendary Pokemon are not easy to capture in the game as they require a joint effort between team members.

Once you've got an invite, things should be a bit more straightforward - Niantic says it'll warn you in advance when your Mewtwo chance is coming up, so you'll have "ample time to coordinate" with friends and other players in order to take it down. While his Focus Blast deals massive damage to Tyranitar, the Dark type Pokemon also happens to be the best counter for the boss as others tend to be somewhat squishy and rely a lot on dodging attacks.

We thought Zapdos was leaving us today, but it turns out that Zapdos, Articuno, Moltres, and Lugia are will be at Gym raids until Augest 31st.
