Tejashwi Yadav to 'expose' Nitish's 'betrayal': Lalu

Amit Shah

"Tejashwi Yadav will expose how Nitish Kumar betrayed the people's faith and the mandate they had reposed in the previous grand alliance government", RJD chief Lalu Prasad told presspersons here on Monday. Tejashwi Yadav apologised for his RJD party's "mistake" in having joined hands with Nitish Kumar and forming the Mahagathbandhan, of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, Janata Dal-United of Nitish Kumar, and the Congress."We are followers of Mahatma Gandhi's principle". Lalu Yadav and his party later said the corruption allegations were an excuse that Mr Kumar, who was already angling for a tie-up with the BJP, used.

Almost 5,000 people, banners and placards and even half-a dozen elephants: Lalu Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal had left no stone unturned to give Tejashwi Yadav a big build-up on his maiden political yatra from Champaran's Gandhi maidan. He urged the Union Law Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, who was also present on the occasion, to open up the wallet and help Bihar in dispensing off millions of court cases that have been pending for years in the lack of adequate legal services available to the plaintiff or the defendants. It's a different issue that the mandate of polls was against them, as BJP-led NDA was defeated badly by the Grand Alliance. Yadav had come out against Kumar's decision to ally with the BJP. Kicking off the yatra, to protest "insult to the 2015 mandate" by Nitish Kumar, the former Deputy Chief Minister first offered an "apology" to Mahatma Gandhi near his life-size statue at Motihari, district headquarters of East Champaran, which is associated with Mahatma Gandhi's concept of satyagraha. "During my yatra, I will also invite people to attend the RJD's August 27 rally in Patna against the BJP", he added. He also reiterated that the August 27 event would be a massive rally in which all non-BJP party leaders would participate that would be the beginning of the end of RSS-BJP government at the Centre.
