Ali wrote on Twitter Wednesday that he has received a summons from Bolling, and says he stands by his reporting and will protect his sources.
Bolling is represented by Michael Bowe - a lawyer from the same firm as Marc Kasowitz, President Trump's personal attorney until July.
"That nature of this action is for damages and injunctive relief based on defamation arising from the (Ali's) efforts to injure (Bolling's) reputation through the intentional and/or highly reckless publication of actionable false and misleading statements about (Bolling's) conduct and character", the lawsuit alleges.
'The anonymous, uncorroborated claims are untrue and terribly unfair, ' Bolling's attorney Michael J. Bowe wrote in an email. Gretchen Carlson, a former Fox News anchor, claimed she was sacked for rejecting Ailes's sexual advances, prompting a lawsuit.
While, Bolling remains under investigation, Caroline Heldman, an associate professor at Occidental College, came forward on social media and recounted a number of unusual interactions with Bolling.
Bolling's lawyer denied the Huffington Post's allegations and threatening to sue all and any false reports that may be released in connection with this matter.
"Overwhelmed by all the support I have received", he wrote on Twitter. The network did not immediately return request for comment on the new allegations against Bolling.
