Wenger confirms Sanchez will stay at Arsenal

The Arsenal boss believes the Premier League's elite teams will be stronger next term

Sanchez took part fully in the Gunners' open training session at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday after returning from an extended leave of absence due to flu.

"When you have made 75 points (last season), your target is to get 10 points more. I've dreamt about it since I was a kid".

Sanchez only has 12 months left on his contract and the possibility of the Chilean extending his deal with Arsenal look remote.

"He is focused. My decision is clear, he will stay and he will respect that and that's as simple as that", Wenger said of the Chile forward.

Wenger was without Sanchez, who has been ill, while Ozil and Ramsey were nursing ankle and calf problems respectively and are expected to miss Arsenal's opening Premier League match of the season, against Leicester City on Friday.

Arsenal signed Alexandre Lacazette for a club record £46.5m fee this summer, with the 26-year-old France striker given Perez's number nine shirt.

"Every negotiation has to be a little bit secret", Wenger said during a press conference.

"The transparent society is very pushy but we have to resist a little bit, as much as we can".

"If he finds a satisfactory solution, at least for the short-term, we will do it".

Ramsey was also absent from the game at Wembley today due to a minor calf injury and Wenger says the Welsh worldwide is also unlikely to be passed fit for our Premier League opener.

Speaking on Sky's Transfer Centre, Magee said: "We are told discussions are ongoing over the future of this man - attacking midfielder Thomas Lemar".
