Bollywood star Salman Khan: 'Tubelight is about the underdog becoming a hero'

Shah Rukh Khan

Tubelight, a patriotic drama written and directed by Indian filmmaker Kabir Khan, has likewise barreled, romanced and danced its way to box office success on this Eid holiday weekend, despite its burly star's weak performance (the man's impervious to bad reviews).

The vast fan following of Salman Khan who is fondly called as Bhai has once again ensured that his movies are beyond critic's ratings and praise of pundits.

Although the first-weekend box office collection of the movie at the domestic market is pretty decent, it is quite average when compared to Bajrangi Bhaijaan or Sultan.

The only hope for the film is Monday when the Muslim audience will come to the theatres on Eid.

Tubelight has not managed to receive the roaring welcome at the box office that is associated with a Salman Khan release, especially when "Bhai" arrives on Eid. Apart from Salman, it features Sohail Khan as Bharat, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, late actor Om Puri, Chinese actress Zhu Zhu and child actor Matin Rey Tangu in pivotal roles. This year too there is a release (Tubelight).

'Laxman's a very genuine character. The Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC), headlined by chief Pahlaj Nihalani, has objected to the inclusion of the word "intercourse", which was part of a dialogue in the second mini trail of the film, The Quint had reported earlier. To which he responded back saying, "I'm the same person". Considering that there is no other Bollywood release lined up for the next two weeks, this Kabir Khan directorial will dominate the box office in days to come.

He ventured into Bollywood in 1992 with the film "Deewana" and ever since has given several cinematic jewels like "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge", "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" and "Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham" among many others. Also, why can't we give him the credit for trying to do something different in a film with himself? Thousands of fans gathered to get a glimpse of the actor, who says it's this love that keeps him motivated. Also, leave a good film, at least Tubelight has a good intention.

Before we go ahead, let us tell you how the film fared in the first three days.
