Lonzo Ball's draft stock stays strong with Lakers watching

Teams that include the Los Angeles Lakers, the Philadelphia 76ers and even the Boston Celtics are looking to Thursday's 2017 NBA Draft to bolster their rosters with top college prospects.

The NBA Draft is fast approaching, and following the blockbuster trade in which the Philadelphia 76ers acquired the No. 1 pick from the Boston Celtics, teams at the top of the draft are starting to settle on top targets and who they will take with their picks.

The Celtics have already explored trading their new first-rounder, reportedly contacting the New York Knicks about a possible deal for Kristaps Porzingis. Pictured: George and Myles Turner of the Indiana Pacers react in the second half of Game 4of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals during the 2017 NBA Playoffs against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on April 23, 2017 in Indianapolis. Will the Lakers have to give up draft arsenal to acquire the Pacers' forward? A trade for George would be risky, considering he's a free agent next summer and is eying a contract with the Lakers. After finishing with the No. 1 seed in the East this season, they are trying to package some of their picks for an established star that could help them close the gap on National Basketball Association finalists Cleveland and Golden State.

Shortly after this trade was reportedly done, David Aldridge reported that the Lakers talked to the Sacramento Kings about trying to acquire the 5 and 10 overall picks in the first round for the 2nd overall pick. Dealing last year's No.2 pick, Brandon Ingram, also appears to be off the table.

If the more favorable of the Sixers' and Kings' 2019 first-round picks is the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, the Sixers will instead trade the rights to the less favorable of those two picks.

Los Angeles is also considering taking Kansas wing Josh Jackson or Kentucky point guard De'Aaron Fox, who lit up Ball's UCLA Bruins for 39 points in the NCAA Tournament, with its top draft choice.

As the draft moves ever closer, however, what seemed like a sure thing has been thrown into doubt.
