Germaine de Randamie Stripped of UFC's FW Belt, Cris "Cyborg" to

Cris Cyborg will face Megan Anderson for the women's featherweight title at UFC 214

De Randamie defeated Holly Holm at UFC 208 in February to claim the inaugural women's featherweight title.

Cyborg had been begging to get her shot to fight on the July card with the only hesitation being if she could get cleared from her positive USADA test earlier in the year. "Germaine and her team have talked, and the position is that she will not fight Cyborg because Cyborg is a known and proven cheater", said de Randamie's manager Brian Butler at the time. "If that is the only fight the UFC wants, then Germaine is willing to wait and see if the UFC will strip her belt before making her next move".

Germaine de Randamie has been stripped of her UFC women's featherweight championship after refusing to defend her title against Cris "Cyborg" Justino, the promotion announced Monday.

"UFC maintains that any champion is expected to accept fights against the top contenders in their respective weight classes in order to maintain the integrity of the sport", the organization announced in its statement. It would feature the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked 145-pound fighters in the world and would provide Justino with her toughest test to date.

Arguably the P4P greatest female fighter on Earth impressed so much in her stellar promotional debut against Leslie Smith that she was promoted to headliner status for her second outing against Lina Landsberg.

"We're the best featherweights in the world", Anderson said.

The UFC 214 main event is a light-heavyweight title rematch between champion Daniel Cormier and former champion Jon Jones. At UFC 214 on July 29, Cris Cyborg will face fellow former Invicta FC 145-pound champ Megan Anderson for the vacant UFC women's featherweight championship.

Who cares if Conor McGregor beats Floyd Mayweather? She's said she's asked for that fight before and my management said I wasn't ready.

"Since I've been fighting in the UFC, people have been saying that there are no women my weight to fight", Justino said.

UFC 214 takes place from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California on July 29. "So I think whatever the UFC's plan is for me, whether I win or lose this fight, will show how they view this division".
