Cosby judge could revisit issue of revealing names of jurors

Accuser was less consistent with the accused’ Cosby attorney

Cosby and his publicity team emerged triumphant from the courthouse on Saturday. However, it is somewhat disappointing that he chose to mention the Cosby case and fail to focus on what many find to be most problematic about the mistrial. The facts of the case - Cosby invited Constand to his home, provided her pills he didn't identify and then penetrated her with his fingers - speak for themselves, they say.

Approximately 60 accusations of sexual assault have been made against Cosby over a number of years, but only Constand's resulted in criminal charges because the other alleged incidents were too old to prosecute.

Following Judge Steven O'Neill's decision to declare a mistrial in Bill Cosby's sex assault case in Montgomery County Court Saturday, District Attorney Kevin Steele released a statement that he would seek to retry the comic icon.

An alternate juror in the Bill Cosby sexual assault case says he "probably" would have voted to convict. Judge Steven O'Neill could revisit the issue as early as Monday.

The school year is over, but law professors were seemingly everywhere this weekend helping media outlets unpack the mistrial in Bill Cosby's closely watched sexual assault trial in Pennsylvania. Juror identity has been, and must continue to be, public in order to ensure fairness and promote public trust in the judicial system.

The jurors clearly struggled with their verdict, telling the judge on Thursday they were at impasse.

"Social attitudes in general affect what happens in criminal trials, in rape cases".

Bill Cosby favoured to walk after retrial, but new jury may be more eager to convict

Paul Callan, who represented the estate of Nicole Brown Simpson in a civil case against her ex-husband, former football star O.J. Simpson, after he was found not guilty of her murder, said courts are much stricter in excluding evidence in criminal cases because a conviction could lead to incarceration. She awoke, she says, to Cosby assaulting her.

Two women jurors looked anguished when they announced the final deadlock, wiping away tears.

Mike McCloskey appears to be the first member of the sequestered 12-person jury or the panel of six alternates to speak publicly about the case.

Constand, who worked at Cosby's alma mater, Temple University, is ready to go to trial again. Although he gave the jurors this instruction, one alternate who did not decide on the outcome spoke to NBC News. Yanez and Cosby are unrelated in the eyes of the law, and yet they are contemporaneously linked in public perception of the USA criminal justice system's surreal uselessness. Though the prosecution wanted to present testimony from 13 others who have said that the comedian drugged and/or violated them, the judge allowed the jury to hear from only one of them. "She's a very spiritual woman, she believes things happen for a objective, and I think the goal is ... it should encourage other women to come forward and have their day in court". The defense had hoped, if it did, to introduce evidence she had previously dated a man.

Constand's lawyer, Dolores Troiani, said only that the "jury is apparently working very hard".

The statement came the day after NPR broadcast an awkward interview with Cosby - awkward because Cosby did not utter one word when repeatedly asked about the charges against him. Though Cosby has strongly denied the allegations against him, the treatment his accusers have faced show, as Salon noted, that "rape culture has not yet been conquered".

Cosby also is battling sexual battery or defamation cases still pending by 10 women in California and MA.
