Trump financial disclosures show Mar-a-Lago business boom

In a financial disclosure form made public by the Office of Government Ethics Friday, President Donald Trump's reported earnings from his Mar-a-Lago resort and popular book "The Art of the Deal" increased compared to previous reports as he won the presidency and took office.

Mar-a-Lago, which Trump has referred to as the "Winter White House", made $37.2 million from January 2016 through this spring, an increase from the previous year, when the resort earned $29.8 million.

According to a Bloomberg report, President Donald Trump's first financial disclosure since taking office reveals that his hotel in Washington, D.C.

Since coming becoming president on January 20, Trump has travelled to the Palm Beach property often and upped the membership fees substantially.

Although Trump was not required to file a disclosure form under the Federal law until next year, the White House via a statement disclosed that Trump "welcomed the opportunity" to file the form "voluntarily".

Trump's 98-page disclosure shows he held onto the vast majority of his assets since his last disclosure in May 2016, when he reported his holdings were worth at least $1.5 billion. That is just Trump's personal income, separate from the profits and losses of the Trump Organization, though he does still hold a financial interest in the company.

Latest disclosure puts his wealth at $1.4 billion and personal liabilities of at least $315.6 million to German, U.S. and other lenders as of mid-2017.

Trump drew scrutiny and criticism after he departed from roughly 40 years of tradition for major-party candidates by declining to release any of his tax returns.

The disclosures offer the first official look at how Trump's private finances fared during the campaign and the early months of presidency, even as he has stepped away from the day-to-day management duties of his company.

The disclosure reflects income of between $2.5 million and $15.5 million from stocks, bonds and mutual funds.

In the release, Mr. Trump outlines the financial health of the business assets he placed into a trust when he took office.

That SAG pension brought Trump $84,292, the document says. After much back and forth with Trump's lawyers, the General Services Administration decided that Trump's financial rearrangement was sufficient and allowed him to keep his lease on the building, which has been converted into a hotel. It requires Congress to approve any payment or gift from a foreign entity a president decides to keep.

The latest report shows Mr Trump resigned from more than 500 positions, stepping down from many on the day before his inauguration.

Some of Mr Trump's ventures appear to be making more money than they had a year earlier.
