Trump appears to confirm he's under investigation

The highlight of Trump's Friday morning tweetstorm denouncing the Russian Federation "witch hunt" appeared to confirm a Washington Post report that the president was now under investigation for obstruction of justice, stemming from his abrupt firing of FBI Director James Comey.

Some speculated Brand may have to step in after it was revealed that special counsel Robert Mueller is looking into the firing of former FBI Director James Comey.

Rosenstein submitted a widely circulated memo to the president last month raising concerns over Comey's performance, but Trump later asserted that he had already made the decision himself to fire Comey.

U.S. intelligence agencies concluded in January that Russian Federation interfered in the presidential race to try to help Mr Trump win, in part by hacking and releasing emails damaging to his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton.

The White House confirmed Mr Mueller was among the candidates the president interviewed to replace Mr Comey.

The tweet may be a reference to Mr Rosenstein, who previously wrote a memo supporting Mr Comey's firing and is now assisting in the Justice Department's investigation.

"After 7 months of investigations and committee hearings about my "collusion with the Russians", nobody has been able to show any proof.

He has tweeted four times Friday morning, also lashing out at the news media and insisting that economy is doing well "despite the phony Witch Hunt" he spent some of Thursday decrying on Twitter as well.

Inside the White House, those close to the president say he has continued to fume about the actions of Justice Department officials, his anger focused mostly on Mr. Rosenstein for appointing Mr. Mueller and on Attorney General Jeff Sessions, a longtime political ally whose decision to recuse himself from the Russian Federation case in March enraged Mr. Trump.

The former Federal Bureau of Investigation chief said it would be up to Meuller to determine whether Trump had obstructed justice. The president has long vehemently denied any collusion with Moscow.

A close Trump associate said this week the president was considering firing Mueller, although the White House later denied it.

"The real scandal here is that classified information is illegally given out by "intelligence" like candy", Mr Trump tweeted in February.

News has reported that federal investigators are examining whether the president attempted to obstruct justice. Now there's some question of whether President Trump wants to fire Mueller.

The transition official said the organization has also separately asked the General Services Administration to preserve records from the Trump transition that were transferred to its facilities after the inauguration. That is why investigators want to know more about a meeting between Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and executives of Vnesheconombank, a Russian state-owned development bank now under USA sanctions.
