Senate Panel Meets With Special Counsel Robert Mueller in Russia Probe

The New York Times sued the FBI on Friday, seeking a court's help in getting the agency to turn over documents created by fired FBI Director James Comey after his conversations with President Donald Trump.

"There's still no evidence of obstruction, and current and former leaders in the intelligence community have repeatedly said there's been no effort to impede the investigation in any way", she said in a statement.

"After 7 months of investigations & committee hearings about my 'collusion with the Russians, ' nobody has been able to show any proof".

The Washington Post, citing unidentified officials, carried the report on Wednesday. Rosenstein finds himself in a spot as he could face the President anger or answer questions about his own future role supervising Mueller when he could become a witness in the special counsel's probe.

Significantly, Preet Bharara, the India-born former top U.S. federal prosecutor, earlier this week had said that there was enough evidence to begin an obstruction of justice case against Trump over his alleged interference in the Russian Federation probe.

According to the Washington Post, Special Counsel Robert Mueller is investigating the business dealings of Jared Kushner, a former NY real estate developer who now serves as special adviser to his father-in-law, President Donald Trump.

That's an expansion of the investigation beyond a focus on Russian influence.

US President Donald Trump on Thursday ridiculed as "phony" and "witch hunt" claims about collusion between Russian Federation and his associates after media reports that he is being investigated for possible obstruction of justice.

The Trump administration initially said Mr Rosenstein's letter was the reason the President fired Mr Comey on May 9, but Mr Trump later said he did so because of the "Russia thing". "I hope you can let this go".

Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from the widening investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Trump's tweets prompted Sen.

The White House has been directing all questions related to this to Trump's personal attorney Marc Kasowitz.

The Post referred to anonymous sources who had been briefed on requests made by Mueller's investigators.

President Trump could have taken to social media Friday morning to celebrate the two-year anniversary of his presidential campaign announcement and unlikely political rise that followed. Trump had previously boasted that he was not personally under investigation, and Comey said the president had repeatedly pressured him to publicly clear him.
