Poll shows most doubt Trump's respect for institutions

White House denies Trump wants Mueller out, but heat's on

In Rasmussen's polls, his performance rating received a high 59% in late January, when he had just assumed the seat of the USA presidency - to a low 42% in early April. These expectations have also proven wrong, at least so far, as Republican attitudes registered in the latest poll illustrate: 68 percent of Texas Republicans said Trump has the temperament to be president and 66 percent said he was honest and trustworthy.

President Donald Trump on Friday took a break from taking shots at the federal probe into whether he attempted to obstruct justice to tout a new poll showing his approval rating among Americans is 50 percent.

The president's approval numbers are moving back up after they fell to a low of 42 percent in April.

So far, this poll is an outlier poll, as it's the only recent polls to show the president getting more than 45 percent approval, and one of the only polls to show the president above 40 percent approval.

Republican voters clearly have a favorite in Abbott, with 83 percent approving his job performance. This equates to a Presidential Approval Index rating of -11, according to Rasmussen Reports.

The new survey, conducted by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, found more than 6 in 10 Americans disapprove of the job Trump is doing as president, and almost half strongly disapprove. Fifty percent (50%) disapprove.

Rasmussen's polls have been more favorable of Trump than other surveys.

Once he was matched up against Hillary Clinton, however, Trump stopped referencing the surveys during his campaign rallies, as the Democrat looked to be ahead in nearly every measure.

This is one of several stories on the latest University of Texas/Texas Tribune Poll.

In the last week, the news for Trump has not been any better or worse than in a prior week.

When asked about Russia's impact on the 2016 election, only 8 percent of Republicans thought interference influenced the outcome, and only 9 percent of the same group thought that the Trump campaign and Russian Federation colluded in an effort to affect the campaign. The president announced earlier this month that he would from the 195-nation Paris climate deal and has made a concerted push to undo Obama-era environmental regulations.

"Great news", he said a couple of hours after the poll was released.

Sixty-five percent of Americans say they think the country is on the wrong track, the poll shows, and just 34 percent think it's headed in the right direction.
