7 things you need to know about Spider-Man for PlayStation 4

There's still no release date yet for Spider-Man PS4, but it will be out sometime in 2018.

Sphero has revealed the latest in its line of tech toys in the form of the interactive Spider-Man. Kids also control Spider-Man with voice commands, which is the first time we've seen Sphero include that technology. The Sphero Spider-Man toy will be able to tell the story while kids can choose what to do next.

The measurements of Spider-Man are: Height: 21.5 cm, Width: 14.5 cm, and Weight 680g.

Standing 21.5cm tall, Sphero's new Spider-Man toy isn't quite an action figure because its only articulated features are a pair of arms that rotate at the shoulders. Spider-Man will simply feature one suit in the PlayStation exclusive game, there will be multiple. But the app isn't optional, and is the only way to actually set up the toy out of the box, so parents will need to factor in the cost of a mobile device a kid can use, in addition to Spidey's $249.99 price tag. This is why Sphero is making sure the toy will have voice recognition built in. The toy's microphone is also only turned on when the spider logo is glowing, so it's incapable of always listening.

With the new generation of "Spider-Man" on the way to the movies in the next few weeks, it makes sense for toy stores to get their action figures, web slingers, and anything else that can allow kids to relive their fondest memories of the movie, and possibly some adults, too. The toy can connect to a Wi-Fi network, but that is only for software updates and downloading additional content.

At the end of the Spider-Man gameplay trailer, embedded above, Miles Morales can be seen marvelling at Spidey's city-saving talents.

Furthermore, Spider-Man only listens to commands after the spider logo on his chest has been double-pressed, or during the back-and-forth conversation of an adventure.
