Super Mario Odyssey has co-op where you can play as Mario's hat

Super Mario Odyssey will be arriving on October 27, 2017 for the Nintendo Switch.

Although, Mario will still be continuing with its traditional features such as running and jumping, and controlling the camera, it would no longer be able to control the Cappy.

Nintendo released a new trailer for its upcoming video game "Super Mario Odyssey" at the E3 Convention, which focuses on both video games and electronic devices.

Super Mario Odyssey won't let you bring Luigi along for the ride, but it will let a second player fling Mario's hat around. More importantly, Cappy boasts invincibility, so playing him would be flawless for players who can't stomach dying all the time. However, during the event, Nintendo did drop a hint that Mario could control Cappy in some way, but how, it was not revealed in the demo.

The big thing in Super Mario Odyssey is that Mario can throw Cappy at anyone or anything and possess it.

Mario's hat is a core gameplay mechanic in "Super Mario Odyssey". Cappy is also invincible and can attack enemies for Mario to keep him out of danger.

Sticking with game dev for the time being, Koizumi was asked how the Odyssey team came up with the game's "possession" mechanic, which sees Mario tap into his inner poltergeist to possess all manner of living creatures (including a T-rex).

Cappy is also unbeatable. When the mode is activated, Mario's Cappy hovers above his noggin. Super Mario 3D World is really the sort of co-op action people are after.

Super Mario Odyssey is weird, but what's most important is that it's fun as heck.
